Your logs show that your xserver is crashing but your kernel is still not lucid
default. I'll close this bug if you can't
a) prove that the 64bit lucid has a different default kernel than lucid_i386
b) move back to lucid's default kernel
c)upgrade to maverick (still under developement)

i am using kernel 2.6.35-15 and "nouveau" driver and mesa 7.9

Btw, 4 months is a short period for low importance bugs. There's even a
bug in nautilus that was fixed 10 years after its reporting (the fix
will be available in Maverick).

I have the same problem too. nvidia geforce2 MX400 card. Problem
persists with both noveau and nvidia binary 96 driver. Reinstalling
driver does not help. using the system by going through safe mode and
booting into low graphics mode. this way it does not freeze, but poor
screen resolution.

Same problem I got the Nvidia 195.36.24 driver and I am on the 2.6.33
kernel.
