Maybe this is the default behavior then, and I am misunderstanding the
issue. Shouldn't there at least be an icon on the desktop through which
one indicates "a first access interest"?

Thank you for your bug report, why should it be mounted during boot
rather than on first access? no need to spin CD and make noise every
time for no reason
