I haven't had this problem in a long time. I'm now on feisty but I think
its fixed on edgy as well.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I've tried cleaning out all
configurations files, and reinstalling the nautilus packages.
Here's some info:
Nautilus 2.16.1
File system: encfs over top of xfs
I have a .Trash folder in my home directory
I can write to the partition that I deleted the files/folde
Thank you for your bug. What version of nautilus do you use? What
filesystem? Do you have a .Trash or .Trash-user on the partition where
you delete the file? Can you user write to it? Are you sure you don't
use the option to bypass the trash by default?
