sorry but cannot confirm the issue without a test case for it, since
you're facing the issue you might want to send this directly upstream to
bugzilla.gnome.org where the nautilus developers can read about it, for

Clearly it's not EXT3 specific since I experienced it on both NTFS and EXT4.
Besides in spite of my lack of experience I would assume it has not much to do
with the file system of the partition since I travelled my way to the folder

I've got exactly the same issue. Although I want to mention, it's
happened on both partitions of my hard drive : EXT4 (system) and NTFS
(data)
I'm on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala 32bit
Kernel 2.6.31-14-generic

on a laptop with a more than satisfactory configuration.
