You can set a DNS server for that. You can also do it with zeroconf
probably or with samba. Anyway again that's not the right place here,
I'm working on GNOME and you probably want to speak to other people for
zeroconf or samba configuration

That would be a nice feature but not trivial (you need something
advertising your machine name on the network and a client part
collection that information) and not a nautilus issue. A mailing list
would probably a better place to discuss that though

Not a bug of nautilus then, the hostname is not known from your box.
Either modify /etc/hosts to list it or use a DNS for that
