the new gdm is a rewrite, the code is totally different, it has a
similar issue and there is a GNOME bug about it but the bug is different
from the codebug fixed 3 years ago in this codebase

I can't reproduce this bug anymore. So it seems gone with the current Dapper.

I tried without the debuging option and it keeps working fine. I really don't
know what happened before but it was not only me that could repeat it.
Anyway, unless the other person can repeat it you can close the bug.

It works now without a problem. I don't know if there has been any dapper
update on the package this last couple of days. I'm going to try without the
debug setting to see if there is any difference, but I doubt it.

Do you still have the issue? What version of Ubuntu and gdm do you use?
That works fine for me with dapper. Could you activate the "Enable debug
messages to system log" option with gdmsetup ("Security" tab) and copy
the log from /var/log/syslog to a comment after login in out and being
loged in aga
Same here. But personally I find this a feature instead of a bug since this is
used to restrict your gnome sessions to one specific user.
