Yes, the problem persists in Karmic.
I checked with three machines:
Karmic 64bit over ethernet works fine
Karmic 64bit wireless connection not installed
Karmic 32bit over ethernet works fine
Karmic 32bit wireless connection does not work in nautilus, but works in
terminal with smbclient
