I'm no expert, but after using Rhythmbox for 1 year, I've tried Banshee on Jaunty for more than one month and stopped having this problem altogether. So, I doubt it has anything to do with the notify-osd. Now I'm back to using good old RB once again, but I miss Banshee's neat behaviour on this issu
