Solution:
gconftool -u /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/switch_windows
It will switch it from "disabled" to its default state "Alt-Tab"

I am experiencing the same problem; with another user, Alt+Tab works correctly.
Which configuration can be broken?

$ gconftool-2 -R /apps/metacity > /home/claudio/Scrivania/apps_meta
