Fixed by that upload:
pango1.0 (1.12.1-1ubuntu4) dapper; urgency=low
.
* Do not use FC_ANY_METRICS while listing, because that's a property
that is never matched exactly and so only valid when matching.

Same problem here. Installed Ubuntu 6.06 and could use all fonts in Gnome font
chooser. After doing the first 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' i've found the same
problem. In the font chooser, only sans, serif and monospace fonts are usable.
Apps like GIMP, OO, Firefox or Thunderbird do not have the
Changing package to pango. It broke between 1.12.1-1ubuntu1 and
1.12.1-1ubuntu2.
