His fix doesn't stop it from crashing, but does create a generic Auto
Playlist, which you can change to fit whatever criteria u want.

Thanks Sebastien, that is good information bugs generally don't get
backported to stable unless there are security or work stoppers, due to
the overhead of regression testing. I've only been using Ubuntu a couple
years and reported few bugs, so I am not that familiar with how to use
this tool.

I confirm that Rhythmbox crashes after creating automatic playlist (if
you close the playlist dialog with cross it crashes as well).
I was only able to create automatic playlist when I unchecked "Search
new files in my collection" under Settings -> Music (I don't know the
exact English name of thi

Ok finally figured out how to make it work.
Play something that is present in the already generated automatic playlist
(such as most recently added) and while something is playing from this list you
can create an automatic playlist.

I was having this problem as well.
If you create an automatic playlist while playing something Rhythmbox doesn't
crash anymore. Hope this helps

I confirm that rhythmbox has this bug. (rhythmbox 0.12.0-0ubuntu2)
To reproduce:-
1. Start Rhythmbox
2. Go to Music -> Playlist -> Automatic Playlist
3. Select any terms, hit OK
Rhythmbox closes unexpectedly, and no crash report is generated (nothing
in /var/crash).
I started rhythmbox from a
