I use Jaunty on packard bell dot.m (aspire one 11.6"). also after vaccuum,

Ok, that did fix the slowness. It might be a bug that the sqlite
database can get fragmented like this, and evolution doesn't handle it
well by vacuuming regularly. It's also weird that it happened suddenly
on upgrade from Intrepid to Jaunty.

thank you for your bug report, that could be due to the sqlite database
usage, cleaning the sql index and letting evolution re-create those
might workaround the issue. not confirming the bug on jaunty using a box
which has 38000 entries is just loaded quickly, to be sent to
bugzilla.gnome.org by so
