This is on an up-to-date 9.04 with nautilus 2.26. I delete the file either by drag'n'drop to the trash, the file context menu, or the delete key - this does not make any difference. Ubuntu is installed using the Romanian locale - ro_RO.UTF-8. This bug is also reproducible with a clean user profi

I tried reproducing this bug, but could not. Could you please provide some more information? What versions of Ubuntu, nautilus, etc., and how exactly are you deleting the file would be a good start. Also, do you have any special gnome settings? Any special X packages? What is your localization
