I'm afraid this is not a bug: MMC standards only define burnproof (or related
technologies) for CDs and DVDs-R. For the other types of media, the way they
are written (overwrite, more or less like a hard drive) means that they don't
need such a thing
Same problem on Jaunty 9.04/amd64 with my 2 DVD-RW (Liteon and Pioneer): I
can't enable burnproof!
Please fix it, it's very important for a safe burn ;)

The feature apparently goes by various names depending on the
manufacturer:
JustLink, ExacLink, Seamless Link, BURN-Proof, Smart-Burn, Power Burn,

Nero Linux appears to call the feature 'smart-burn' like the
documentation for the Lite-On drive. It's essentially all the same
feature from the end user perspective though.
