The problem appears when the compressed file name contains a #. i.e:
somefile#1.tar.gz
when you want to extract it, the "Operation not supported" error
appears.
I'm attatching a file that I cannot extract unless I rename it removing
the # symbol.

archive, but I couldn't reproduce the bug. Can you please provide us
