First of all sorry for the late reply. Yeah, the testing partition where I used
to test jaunty from the beginning seems to works correctly! So.. don't know
what happens..

Chris, purging and reinstalling libpango1.0-0 it give me a lot of things to
purge and reinstall, like gnome, and so on..
doing that and reinstalling all the packages nothing happens, gnome-panel don't
want to start..
don't know what happens..

I still can't recreate this, and it seems like you're the only person
affected by this. Could you try purging and reinstalling libpango1.0-0

Answering about your question, the problem is still exactly the same:
gnome-terminal: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libvte.so.9: undefined
symbol: pango_glyph_item_iter_init_start
Xterm works correctly!

First of all I'm sorry for the really really late reply.
I tried to purge and reinstall both packages and so also main packages like
gnome and all dependencies but it doesn't work.
I'm running Ubuntu 386 on a amd64 processor. Do you mean that?

Thanks for the report, what do you mean? could you open an xterm and
execute gnome-terminal there? what's the output of the command?
