I would have thought that the fact that the error message says it's a
bug when it's not a bug would in fact make it a bug... :-s
Since the auto-updates released last Friday rhythmbox has being working
ok again, thanks for your help.

not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but
rhythmbox hasn't changed in hardy, that's probably due to something you
installed rather.
