Next to the "Find" menu item there is only a "Ctrl+F" written.
I haven't used the Dictionary for some time, but now I have tested it and the
reported problem seems to be gone. May be some recently updated package solved
the problem.
But now the "/" key fires the Find subwindow. Of course this is
do you have the letter written next to a menu item in gnome-dictionnary?

Sorry for the delay.
It seems that this happens only in Dictionary. I tested with gedit and
file-roller. None has this behavior.

Does this only happen in gnome-dictionary? Does the 'q' key act like
Ctrl+F in any other application that has a find dialog and supports that
shortcut?

I did some testing here. Enabled the "Editable menu shortcut keys"
option, then opened the edit menu in Dictionary, selected the "Find"
option and pressed "Del". The "Ctrl-F" in front of the option was
deleted, meaning that no accelarator was defined for it. Then tried to
press Ctrl-F to confirm. I
It is unchecked already. I think this is the default, isn't it?

I don't remember enabling any "menu accelerator". But that may have

usually such bugs are due to users who enable the option to change menu
accelerators and hit a key while an entry is selected and then complain
about the software being buggy

You are wright. I tried running ithe dictionary in a virtual machine where I
installed a fresh version of intrepid. It works OK there. There may be some
leftover from previous versions of Ubuntu in my home directory.
Do you have any idea about where I should start looking up?
Thanks again.
