Forgot to tell (3) I'm not using a clean installed Feisty; it is
upgraded from a Edgy installation. I'll make a clean install once the
official Feisty is available.

Thanks, I'll try it next time it comes around. But... it is not a proper

Removing and then reinstalling ubuntu-desktop and metacity seem to have
fixed this, though not bug 102726. I think the bug still stands though.

This has recurred for me in feisty beta. I have ubuntu-desktop and it's

looks like sometime schemas don't get register correctly but that's not
really likely to be a bug of the package shipping the schemas, either
due to gconf or to something not going as expected on the machine during
the installation

extent:
$ sudo gconf-schemas --register desktop_gnome_interface.schemas
The interface
$ gconftool-2 -g /desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_theme
/apps/metacity/general/theme /desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme

completely and reinstalling it.
The applets on the panel were also messed up at the same time -
I'm having the exact same problem, and re-opening this bug. I would like
to get this fixed.
