Yes I could, but the problem is that most people who are new to Linux
would not know how to do that. This will pose a great usability problem.

Which version of Ubuntu do you use? In the gnome-keybinding-properties
dialog, I can easily click on the "Play/Pause" line, then press the
Play/Pause key on my keyboard and configure it that way. Does that help
somehow? Or is this not possible for you?
