feature to have and let's see why they removed it.

Well yes, as a user I would expect this behaviour. I don't know whether
or not it can lead to bugs, though, so if you guys really think it can,
then I guess the change is for the better.

Should it be able to do so? I have a bad security feeling with this
"feature".
Particularly with deleting the file it's playing, does it just keep
reading the area the file used to be at. What happens when a new file
gets written there, while it is playing? This had big security
ramifications
