When running gthumb from the console and trying to print this png, I get
these two warnings:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gthumb
(gthumb:21731): GnomePrintCupsPlugin-WARNING **: iconv does not support
ppd character encoding: ISO

Well you asked me what eog does :))
The bottom line is I, too, cannot print GIFs and PNGs from gthumb, getting an
all-black rectangle.

EOG prints them wrong, it just prints half the image, elongated, with
white stripes every millimeter or so. Printing works fine on my system,
for example JPEGs print fine from gthumb and openoffice works too.

Same here, but with PNG files (haven't tried GIFs yet).
Version is gthumb 2.7.1.
All I get when printing any PNG is a black rectangle of toner on my paper.
