changing to new, I've just tried similar steps on a hardy installation
and don't get the issue, maybe you could open the bug on
bugzilla.gnome.org since you have the issue you can reply to their
comments easily

Ok, it after I deleted the files and logged in & out evolution came up
with the wizard again. Here is what I entered:
Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Server Type: IMAP
Server: ebox.rath.org
Connection: TLS
Sending Mail: Sendmail
Timezone: Berlin
Everything else was left at default settings. I then got
