Very weird: I did the following steps: cd ~ mkdir .Trash chmod 700 .Trash and restarted gdm. And suddenly the trash worked fine, but the folder has disapeared again. Recreating the folder results in an Trash always marked full (in nautilus and the applet) but nothing visible (or invisble - yes t

If "testing" is marked read-only, this is probably a dupe of a much older bug about not getting rid of read-only files on empty trash. If not, it's probably something different going on, though I haven't a clue what it might be. Can you check that the file isn't marked read-only? Thanks. -- Tras
