Printing a single page can take a really long time, but eventually
printing starts.
Evince hangs somewhere inside a cairo function called from
cairo_show_page, which is called by evince's
pdf_document_file_exporter_end_page. Backtrace shown:

Attached. Seems like the print job never reaches CUPS.

Yes.

Partially. The resulting file is 18 MB big, has low quality and takes very long
to load. I at
