Maybe it has something to do with my problem. I have had the same
problem with the screensaver attached. I tried to switch down computer
by pressing Switch Off button, and it worked (it shut down properly), so
it's not a hard lockup. Anyways, I could not use X.org anymore.
I'm using a MSI 1217 lap

Confirmed -- this was a problem in Ubuntu 7.10 and still is a problem in
8.04.
When Flurry hangs, the machine becomes unusable. If you then ssh into
the machine you will find TWO flurry processes spinning at 100% CPU.
Killing them both makes the machine usable again (able to unlock the
screen).

With ubuntu 8.04 fresh install, I tried to preview every screensaver one
by one and my computer was freezed too (at least three times).

I notice that it'll happen when the screensaver has already freezed (after some
time passed).
If It has just switch to screensaver-mode , it works as usual.
