I guess you mean 2.10.8-0ubuntu1 from hardy-updates? Actually
2.10.8-1ubuntu1 would be a candidate for hardy-backports.

I just updated to gtumb 2.10.8-1 from ubuntu backports ... and it works
well !
I tested it by deleting some photos from my temp directory in full
screen mode : no problem !

intrepid and hardy-updates. Please reopen if you still experience this
issue with the new version.

It works fine with the 2.10.8-1 package from my PPA
(https://edge.launchpad.net/~tormodvolden/+archive). This has therefore
been fixed upstream, and hopefully we'll get a backport or SRU for Hardy
(see bug #153572).
