I applied all the updates today (all 103 of them, although there was no
mention for this in the changelogs :) and found out that it actually
*is* entirely fixed. No more flickering at all. It's a dream come true!

I did some very rough initial testing (will test "properly" tonight
hopefully) over the net through an NX connection, and it seems to have
reduced the behavior through an order of magnitude. Yay!
Now that ubuntu-security mail that was full of urls refreshes only twice,

For very large messages, my preview pane flickers rigorously while
formatting message, and the message formatting takes a long time. An
example message that causes this is 10,000 lines long, and 600K. It
takes about 20-30 seconds
