I can confirm Simon's problem. It's not on startup, it locks gnome-panel
hard when clicked on. Perhaps I've found a new bug?

I still have the problem with 8.04 on AMD64. It crash arbitrary when I
click the clock. Only "killall gnome-panel" helps :-(

is this patch out with hardy? I upgraded to hardy, then updated hardy
as of now, and I do not see an update for gnome-panel ... but I still
have the problem. do I have to manually upgrade it?
