This is still present in Edgy RC. This seems important and fixable
before Edgy.

It's still broken on AMD64, if you want to fix this, better ask on the
upstream bug for pointers.

It is still broken on an up to date Dapper AMD64 as of today.
Any pointers on how to fix it?

It's fixed under dapper 32bit. however under the flight7 version i tested of
dapper 64bit it is still a problem. more so minner being the end user can
type eth0 in the dialog box, and manually activate the status icon.
