What information do you need to reopen this?
I am on Ubuntu 11.04. If I start gedit on startup or from the panel, and then
invoke gedit with a file from the CLI, it opens a new instance.
However, if I start gedit from the CLI, and then open a file from the CLI, the
same instance is shared.

Yeah, similarly new install of hardy, currently running xfce, and gedit
does it's stuff in a new window. Is there a setting that normally
switches between only tabs mode and window mode, or is tab mode just
supposed to be the default and you have to individually specify to get
it in a new window?
