sorry but i'm on not using Hardy Heron. Alas awhile back I switched to
kubuntu of which i haven't seen the problem (as far as I know), also the
reaon i've not been posting is because i'm updated a few things or so on
my own that would dis-qualify me for reporting bugs, however I could
help others I
can you try if that's still an issue in hardy?

okay i did this:
created a new user via users and groups
set my own password - easy for the test user, of course
Desktop user named testuser
i set the checkbox to the ability to administor the system
logged out of my user, signed in as testuser - startx and tried it out -
same thing :/

i stopped all startup programs via session manager, undid some folders i
rooted in home, disabled firewall, changed themes, & tried it in the
user root, user root is fine, :( and not that I can tell no nothing in
the /var/log/xorg.conf file i think.. u can close this bug then if it's
not happening
And Also it seems that you're the only person facing this problem the
bug is not confirmed by someone else yet. Also that works fine in my
desktop with Gutsy and Hardy, and it's probably not a gnome-panel bug.
Is there anything on /var/log/Xorg.log.0 that may indicate something on
the hang?

hmm i think i know why - hardy heron is more important at this moment
because of LTS thing :/ and probably the fix will rwquire a whole new
gnome version...

i did the xprop | grep WM_CLASS and it identifed the run dialog as
gnome-panel if it is NOT the cause please put it into the right category
