i have a similar problem: when i double click on a message it opens a window,
but the window is blank - no text from the message.
the message shows correctly in the preview and it shows correctly when i reply
to it.
visual effects not enabled. a fully updated 8.04 system

Thanks for your report, Do you have enabled the Visual Effects? Does it
happens without them? Are you trying to see HTML messages? Does it
happens with every single message you have in your account? Is that
reproducible with another new user?
