Sorry I did not answer all your questions in my last post.
The error pop-up was mainly when I accessed the tool panel/taskbar at the
bottom of the screen. It is set to auto hide, so every time the bar was
accessed either by accessing a item or just inadvertently accessing it, the
trash error wo
I'll try to grab a shot of the screen via my iPhone since by time I press the
Print Screen key or any mouse movement the blank tag is gone.
As for the downgrade of Cairo; I can pull the PPA, but what version of Cairo am
I looking for? I need something to fill the blanks with. I'll pull the PPA

Hi... Well It can be a partial fix. I haven't seen the pop up error yet, but
now when I hover some items in the Task panel some of the text explanations
(tool bar tips) or what ever Linux calls them go blank or black with or without
text.

looked again at _get_image_surface function and still I am quit sure it
is right fix. Maybe someone from ubuntu team could review / speak with
someone from cairo?

So far, so good. Looks as if the long awaited fix took care of the issue. I
haven't seen the pop-up error yet.
I'll give it a bit more time since I haven't been using this computer for the
past three days.

Old 2008 bug "Trash
Uploaded the Trusty package to the same PPA. Upgrade using just "sudo
apt-get upgrade" (the command you typed won't work as the binary package
name is libcairo2, not cairo).

I didn't notice that the reporter is using Trusty, and uploaded only the
Xenial package. Will upload a Trusty one later today.

I added the repository and did the usual update and this is what I got
when trying to upgrade cairo.
