I agree. However I am too upset right now by this to deal with it.
Trying to convince developers not to rip out user choice and force their
short sighted single minded--- see I am too angry to deal with this
properly right now so I am going to have to walk away for a while.

having to switch to something else because of this has sort of ruined my

some other people as well, being able to open a file in a new window is

This is ridiculous.
If that's an upstream decision, it is a WRONG one and a bug should be filed
upstream, and watched from here.
Either that or nautilus must definitely be replaced in Ubuntu with a decent
file browser, which wouldn't be a bad idea given what it has become lately
(consider for e
good luck finding another OS, any other linux distribution is going to
have that nautilus issue, since it's coming from GNOME, other OSes are
also likely to do minor changes like that one

Okay, well nautilus is not going to work for me anymore then. The sad
part is that since you have not made it easy to use a better file
browser this means the end of using Ubuntu for me. You should consider
moving in a more user friendly direction.
