Confirmed for new 3.10 install with ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3.
Like Steve O comment, remove the extra "fi" at line 79 solves the problem.

I can confirm this in Daily Build of Trusty,
Line 79 of the init script has 1 to many "fi" statements. Removing the
fi at line 79 allows system to start gdm
