This is a serious bug, please address. It's been noted in conversations
for years. Just get rid of it please, what's the point? The file name is
right there and the line selected is highlighted in orange, who

Confirming this is still a bug, and a very annoying one in Ubuntu 15.04.
Its especially egregious in list view.

This tooltip/popup issue is still a problem in Ubuntu 15.04, and it
appears the old workaround has been disabled. Very frustrating. It
should be possible to easily enable the status bar or turn off these
popup
