I have the same problem here. This never worked for me in feisty. Can't
remember if I tried it before the network-manager issue.

I'm seeing the same thing. I'm wondering if it's a result of whatever
changes were made in network-manager that caused problems last week,
since I saw this first start happening immediately after that update and
I think gnome-main-menu uses network-manager to check network status.
