I put subtitle and movie file together in a folder. I did what you
suggest Sebastien, I've renamed the subtitle file, and It works. About
DVD subtitles, to solve I've installed totem-xine package and remove
totem-gstreamer.

how do you try to load them? If they have the same name than the movie
file they should be used

I've used a .srt external file. DVD doesn't load neither.
I'm using totem-gstreamer.
