I can confirm this issue.
If I go to Places - Network - Windows Network - Workgroup - - Then it should show a shared folder, but it doesn't. It's nothing
just a blank nautilus window.
However if I use smb:/// then it work to access
it.
Or if using the ubuntu 7.10 or other win machine.

It I open the Gimp and put the main toolbar at top, just under the gnome-panel
and then close the Gimp it will not put the gimp toolbar where I left it.
This only happen if desktop effects are set to ON.

Well I can confirm this slowness for the desktop to show up, with or without
desktop effects.

Dell D610, 1.6Mhz, 1024RAM, 915 Graphic.
Also need to click on the gnome-panel or the desktop to make the panel
show up.

Honestly, I gave up on using the gnome-open and also moved on to the 7.04.

If I use the Nautilus extension gksu (open as administrator) to open a
folder then it will open the selected folder and also the root home
folder.
Also if I like to open a folder, then I can't have the folder open and
right click inside the fold
Cant get it to fail when running strace from terminal, it only fails
when open from nautilus action and it only happens when using gksu or
gksudo and gnome-open. Anyhow this is the ps- ef after it failed. I will
get back as son as possible, when I have more info.

And used the libgnome2-0 (2.17.1-0ubuntu1) as replacement, I only replaced the

location / file by using gnome-open it fails to open. Or if it's open
then many times it don't exit, it stays open in the memory.
