Downloading the fixed nautilus package from the ppa
(nautilus_3.2.1-0ubuntu2~ppa1_amd64.deb package from
https://launchpad.net/~bsantos/+archive/ppa/+build/2899624 ) appears to
have fixed the problem in my installation (fresh install of 11.10, but
with the home directory left intact from 11.04).
Public bug reported:
Steps to reproduce:
1.) Open a nautilus window.
2) Click on a folder and then begin typing to search for directory by name
3.) Press Backspace to try to delete a character or two from the search box.
Expected behavior: The character is deleted, allowing you to back up a
For the time being, I am using Okular to view my LaTeX files. It also
auto-reloads a file when the pdf is changed, but it doesn't steal focus.
It also stays at the same position you were viewing the file at
previously when it reloads (i.e. doesn't jump to the start of the
document on each reload).
I know this isn't exactly what the topic was about, but can Nautilus at
least have a feature where a folder can be opened by dragging a file
onto the folder and holding it there for a moment or two? KDE 3 already
has this feature, so I don't see any patent problems at first glance.

I can confirm that the screensaver seems to be working now, at least
with it set to a blank screen. I haven't been brave enough to set it to
a different screensaver since "blank screen" does the job and probably
saves a little power anyway.

Interesting that you have an ATI card and I have an Nvidia card, and
both are having issues with this. I can also say that I experienced no
screen saver problems with my previous Feisty system.

I have no idea how that word got messed up, because it didn't appear
that way when I submitted the post. Sorry about that.

I've noticed that when the system goes into screensaver mode, either
