Also, I'm running at 2560x1440 with scale=100% on one affected machine

This bug causes my laptop to get really hot, especially in the summer,
because the screen is acting as a radiator cooking my laptop. The
xrandr workaround isn't working for me because I'm using the proprietary
nvidia drivers. Maybe there's a way to disable any attached USB mouse
or keyboard when
nds like others are having problems with slow initialising of USB
peripherals. My personal opinion is that these slow inits are longer
than expected and the boot sequence hasn't been coded for this
eventuality.
