After the reboot screen is now in landscape orientation (as it suppose
to be). I have it locked using widget.

Same thing happened to me when I partially closed lid of my HP EliteBook
8460. Restarted it after fresh install of Ubuntu 17.10 desktop (from
the basic Ubuntu 17.10 image running default Gnome desktop). Now it is
stuck in the portrait mode. Tried to use icon from the upper corner but
with no luck
