This icon on a desktop launcher used to stretch just fine until recent
nautilus was uploaded.

Try to stretch the icon. Nautilus seems to do something as "Restore
icon's original size" context menu item is enabled, but the siz

I can reproduce the bug with aplay (and rhythmbox) using Loïc's
instructions to convert affected .ogg file to 32-bit .wav. 16-bit .wav
file doesn't expose the bug. The .ogg file is from upstream bug report
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=87621).

Output is fine with both 16bit&32bit .wav files when using aplay or even the
affected (gutsy's) rhythmbox. Maybe sample needs to have certain frequencies,
because not all mp3's suffer the same problem as described by the original

I have this problem with alsa. There's no distortion if I use pulse sink
instead.

Thanks Adrien. wxGlade is one of the wxwidgets2.8 applications which has
a similar bug. Its UI freezes instead of crashing, but backtrace output
to terminal is similar. You should probably test if attached patch sorts
that issue as well.

According to related Mandriva bug, the problem seems to be with new glib memory
allocator.
Running vlc using :
$ G_SLICE=always-malloc vlc
works fine.

This is probably why sparc version of vlc (0.8.6.release-0ubuntu5) failed to

I rebuilt vte (1:0.16.3-0ubuntu1) from gutsy's archive for feisty and for me it
seems that terminal response time has improved significantly.
Anyone experiencing problems with feisty's vte should probably try this out
too. Maybe we could get this to feisty-backports (or as SRU).
