This bug also seems to affect Banshee, so perhaps the causes is in GVFS

Title:
no sound while playing music from a gvfs mo
Sometimes "Pausing" playback and then resuming causes sound to start
being played, other times it doesn't help.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: rhythmbox
Going to "Music" | "Import Folder..." and navigating to a windows XP
share, I just get 'Importing 0/0' in the bottom right hand corner and no
music files are imported into the library.
(I could not find a previous bug exactly the same, sorry)
