The link for the wontfix reason is incredibly old. Is it possible to get
this issue re-evaluated? I think it might make a good candidate for
papercuts, on accessibility reasons alone.

That's funny, because I've only just started to experience it. I think
the regression happened approximately a week ago, maybe sooner. I've
experienced it a few times (3 or 4) out of many more locks (40 maybe?).
The only solution seems to be switching to another terminal and killing
gnome-screensav
I just posted on brainstorm that i once had this feature - but then i
did a clean install (for other reasons) and somehow lost it in the
progress.
I know realise that I'm wrong in 2 respects:
1. The reason that the feature was "gone" was that i was playing wma
files; it seems to work fine with mp
