The screen saver may not be activating due to some background task or a

the file is broken, could you open it with any program? file returns
data instead of saying that the file is a Jpeg picture.

I pulled these file over from a few years ago. I could read them on
win98 using a similar free package. Right now it fails to show anything
and this is what it tells me.

If the problem is with 8.04 LTS that is Long Term Support well I guess
all we can do is go for the newer version without LTS. Ian.

I entered gedit in a terminal window. Then loaded my file and print
preview and finally print to pdf and I have this in the terminal window.

What Samuel is reporting is exactly what I saw ages ago. I've un-
installed gedit and re-installed it. Same problem. Wonder if this is
more gnome than gedit? Also if I print preview a few times the hole
thing locks and I have to reboot ubuntu. Other than that gedit works

Just had an idea. Print to pdf then you can see what it prints. By the
way print preview hangs preparing the page with the yellowish band
across the top of the screen. I can system monitor kill the gedit
process but next time I enter gedit I have the same problem. Suspect if

All that I did was to load an asc file attached by clicking it in the Nautilus
2.22.5.1 window, a few simple edits, then file/print and it should have printed
two sheets and all that came out of the printer was the second sheet.
I then did a file/print preview and the first page was not

It was okay a few days ago printed VHDL fine and in color. Now it seems
to miss the text. Print preview shows the problem it seems to have
several blank pages where there should be text inters-paced with a few
