I've just upgraded a machine from focal to jammy and been hit by this issue. The workaround provided by wastrel doesn't seem to resolve the issue. I'm using a Yubikey 5 Nano - which appears to be the device being identified as a smart card. When removing the Yubikey the auth process runs normally.
