when I open up a second or third window, it freezes the screen

gnome-settings-daemon is not sending out any error messages on my
computer. However, when I try to switch focus to a new window, the
screen freezes. Sometimes, I can get it to respond by right clicking a
menu. Otherwise, I have to reboot. Two days ago, this probem was

The problem has come back after today's update removed ubuntu-desktop
and other files. Sorry to bother you.

Just to let you know how serious this bug is - it froze my terminal and
I didn't know any way to get Gnome up and running. I reinstalled Karmic
and found that on the first reboot Nautilus would not display my desktop
or finish running. When I tried to install nvidia-glx-185, on next
reboot my com
I didn't think anything of it at the time, but I was running Rhythmbox and
had just loaded a disk for it. I hope this helps.
