Same bug as #34795, but a different use case.
Please could we have higher importance for this bug? I have to install a

Actually it's not a duplicate, it's almost the opposite.
#34795 complains that autologin happens on "switch user", and tries to
log in as the same user already logged in before, which is clearly not
helpful.
That was apparently "fixed" (enough to close #34795) by completely
disabling auto login a

Same here. Works fine without compiz, but usually cannot log in with
compiz enabled. Sometimes, randomly, it works and I can log in.

Please could this bug fix be backported to Hardy? It's now in Debian

If there is no release manager for GDM, does that mean that nobody has
authority to evaluate this bug and to decide whether to backport the
fix, so it will never happen? If so, can I volunteer to be a release
